Skegness tour – bad news

The CFPS is sad to annouce that the proposed tour book to run on July 12th has had to be cancelled by Spitfire Railtours.

The timings issued by Network Rail were considered not to be suitable for a number of passengers who had booked on this tour:

  1. The tour could not be routed out via Warrington Central and Manchester Piccadilly due to pathing issues. The tour would have to have gone via Earlestown and Manchester Victoria. A large number of passengers had booked from Warrington and the rerouting would have serious inconveinenced them.
  2. Only 2 hours would have been available at Skegness (much less than the 4 hours requested. This was due to a number of single line sections east of Boston.
  3. The return journey was also very lengthy (Skegness depart 1630 Liverpool arrive 2329

Passengers who have used the CFPS members booking service will be contacted by letter shortly regarding this tour. Passengers who have booked with Spitfire will be contacted by them.
